BS/Accelerated MS in Systems EngineeringQualified undergraduate students may apply for a five-year BS/accelerated MS program leading to a Bachelor of Science in an engineering discipline and an MSSE degree. The BS/accelerated MS program can be completed in 147 credit hours. The following conditions apply:
Students must complete all requirements for the BS degree in their chosen major. Students in the BS/accelerated MS program may apply to have the BS degree from the appropriate VSE program conferred during the semester during which they expect to complete their BS requirements. The MSSE degree is granted upon completion of all requirements for the MSSE degree. Up to two courses (six credit hours) of masters level courses may be applied to both the undergraduate and graduate degrees. These two courses may be chosen from the list of graduate courses in the following table. For BSSE majors, these graduate courses replace the corresponding undergraduate courses listed in the table. The undergraduate version of these courses may not be applied toward the MSSE degree.
Systems engineering majors in the BS/accelerated MS program do not receive credit for both SYST 371 and SYST 530. Students should take SYST 371 as part of the undergraduate BS program. Students should take a technical elective in lieu of SYST 530 as part of the MS program. The technical elective must be approved by the student’s advisor and the Department Chair. For application information, instructions and guidelines, please visit the VSE Admissions website.
